It is my understanding that Kanotix _is_ a packaged form of Debian Unstable (aka Sid). Also, FG 0.9.10 hasn't hit Testing (etch) yet so I didn't want to point him at version 0.9.9, and he pulled 0.9.6 out of stable... Unstable was the only option.
