My experience with a 1.8Ghz P4/256MRAM, 32Mbyte nVidia GeForce2 MX
turn all the enhancements off and use the lowest screen size and it will
just load into memory.... totally unusable though.
my impressions CPU >=1G P3 unless you have at least 128Mbyte Video RAM
you're gonna be disappointed... my impression is there's nothing "special"
required in the way of hardware...if you can run 09.10 on the "old laptop
with ATI Rage chip and 1G Pentium-<whatever>" under *nix (maybe even
windows) then you'll get much the same results using the FG-Live type
CD's...whatever version
But the big thing is don't get discouraged if first you don't suceed! ...
there are lots of people that will do they're utmost to help you get it
running as all feedback is considered valuable as long as it's constructive
(ie don't respond with "this is a load of $h!T... I'm going back to
MSFS")....
Best of luck and keep us informed of how you go.
:-D ene
PS IMHO
Worth downloading the Bit-Torrent client if you don't already have
Bit-Torrent capability and using that to get the ISO and don't forget the
MD5SUM

Subject: [Flightgear-users] Live CD on a ATI Rage Laptop
Date: Tue, 06 Jun 2006 21:36:05 -0400
Hi everyone,
What are my chances of being able to use an FG Live CD like the Linux Tag
one, or the upcoming Oskosh one on an old laptop with ATI Rage chip and 1G
Pentium-<whatever>?
Do you think it would work? If it did, would a sufferable frame rate
result?
Thanks,
Yavuz Onder
