Hmm, just tried running your script on my system, after making some specific 
adjustment. I stated FlightGear just fine.  What puzzles me is that it works 
from the command line but not from the script.

Yes, I'm back now. Haven't done much work on FlightGear over the summer 
though, due to the Hot weather we've been having.
