Hello Heidi. I'm a bit of a newcomer myself. But I do know that the newer aircraft need you to update the fg base to the latest base version of fg. This means either building from source, or downloading the fg base patch which will take you from 0.9.9 to 0.9.10. Both of these are found in the 'download source' part of the 'downloads' page for fg. I haven't yet tried this, but I know I need to do it to, for example, fly the Concorde.
