I think I may have set ownerships so it would work both as root and 
user, "chown -R <your_user>:users /usr/lib/FlightGear-0.9.10". I've 
never done a proper calibration, so it's perhaps a bit more sensitive 
than optimum. A few years ago I did mess with the figures in the 
pro-*.xml files to make it less sensitive, but I haven't done so since 
about 0.9.6 when it was hyper-sensitive.
I just have the standard shipped 
/usr/lib/FlightGear-0.9.10/data/Input/Joysticks/ stuff.
