I think you made a good work and you are on the right way.
All is a matter of personal taste but just as a feedback what I don't like (although one gets used to it): the big "racing flag like" tail painting - but you are right, this is a component of the official FlightGear logo. (Which is somehow outdated as many people think of a military flightsimulation when they see the logo). May be one can paint it as a part of the tail, within a round circle or something like that.
