I just found the startup instructions on www.flightgear.org. My apologies for
the false start. Please ignore my previous email.

Subject: [Flightgear-users] FlightGear fgfs start up problem

Hi,

I use SimplyMepis 6.0. I just used synaptic to install 0.99 Flighgear. The
FlightGear directory is /usr/share/games/FlightGear. I ran fgfs and went
through the axis and button set that was then saved in js0.xml. next I move
this js0.xml file to /usr/share/games/FlightGear/Input/Joysticks/Microsoft
directory. Next, I did a which fgfs and saw /usr/games/fgfs come back. So, I
entered fgfs& at the command line. I got back the following error messages:

freeglut (fgfs): Unable to create direct context rendering for window
'FlightGear'
This may hurt performance.
opening file: /usr/share/games/FlightGear/Navaids/carrier_nav.dat
/usr/share/games/FlightGear/Navaids/TACAN_freq.dat
fgfs: indirect_vertex_array.c:1359: __indirect_glTexCoordPointer: Assertion `a
!= ((void *)0)'
 failed.

[1]+ Aborted fgfs

What does this mean and what do I do to correct this?

regards,
