CH Products makes three models of joysticks that have retail prices from $89 to $149 but have significantly lower street prices which can be as much as 30% below retail. They also make a yoke that I hear is well regarded that I have not used. But I don't think the yoke setup is the way to go with a helicopter sim. I have the mid priced stick and like it very much. Along with the CH Pro pedals I was flying the bo105 with out crashing too much in about a half hour. The pedals are a must for this. I have an older CH game port stick that was still working nicely when I took it out of service when I purchased the new USB stick about a year ago. My new machine did not have a game port and I wanted more buttons so I figured that I might as well retire the old stick. This had been used for many years (since the early 1990s) without any problems. These are well made and hold up well. They also make a set of rudder pedals that I have and I am over all very pleased with these. These retail for $149 but street prices are much lower and if you shop around you will likely find these for a little over $100. They also make a number of throttle setups. For single engine use there is the Pro Throttle USB ($149 list). If you want a separate throttle/collective for a heli sim this is the best way to go if you can afford it. I currently don't have a separate throttle (I use the z axis control on my stick) and I am considering getting one of these. For multi-engine setup there are the CH throttle Quadrant Twine Engine and Multi-engine devices ($199 list). Again street prices are significantly lower. Also there is no reason that you should not be able to use a set of these pedals with your existing controller but IMHO to really get the most out of FG you need a good stick (or yoke depending on what you like to fly), a set of good pedals and a large display. Also looking on ebay there are a number of ch product auctions. Some are for used equipment and others are for new equipment. The prices on the new stuff was higher than you can get the same CH device for from other vendors on-line. But like I said these are well made and can stand a lot of abuse and you might get a very good deal on some working used equipment through ebay. Also keep in mind that you can get game port to usb converters that are not expensive and this might allow you to get a really good deal on a set of game port pedals or other controllers. My understanding is that with FG you can mix game port and usb devices. > I don't have that kind > of money to spend on something like that as much as I would like to.
