I just fought the same type of errors. However, after Curtis suggesting
that upgrade to every CVS version of FlighGear, SimGear, OpenSceneGraph,
plib, libglut and libaglut the error went away. Another thing I found
was if you are running KDE the sound PCM device will shut FlightGear
down if another app is using the sound - like amarok or xine
Do you get the same error eith something like "fgfs --aircraft=c172p"?.
That solved it and it works here now.
