What platform are you using? I'm running Fedora Core 6 here (with gcc-4.1.1)
and have no problems building the code. It's really hard to say for sure
what's going on when you get lowlevel library errors like this ...
Could you have a mismatch between your headers and your libraries and your
compiler version? Is everything built with the same version of the
compiler? Have you done any manual tweaking of the code? Have you done any
manual tweaking of your development environment ... such as
installing/upgrading core libs from source or doing other possibly weird
stuff outside the scope of your package manager?
Usually it's the stuff "that no, at least no changes that could have any
affect on this problem" that ends up being the source of the trouble. :-)
You might also try doing a make clean from the ground up and then redo the
make from scratch in case there are any pieces in there left over from a
build with a previous version of your compiler or libraries.
