That _is_ good news.

Sorta related, well, concerning 'older' aircraft anyway...

My mother, on her trips around the local street market, found a lot of old RAF
Flying Review magazines on one of the 'paperback' stalls. They date from
around the early 1960's and quite apart from some of the amazing
advertisments i.e. Ariel, BSA, Royal Enfield and Triumph motor cycles priced
between 180-300 UKP :) there are some fascinating articles, especially when
read with the benefit of hindsight. For example, one article discusses the
Bristol type 188, which had just started it's flight trials and was intended
for mach three research and which we now know was quite a failure.

The latest thing my mother found is an "Aeroplane" Aircraft Identification
booklet (part four - American Types for the RAF). I can't see any
publication date anywhere but the forward, by Peter G. Masefield, is dated
1941 and discusses 'plans to deliver to the RAF 500 four-motor bombers of the
Fortress and Liberator types during each month of 1942'. I also noticed that
the B-29 Washington isn't included in the booklet, so it looks as though it
might actually date from 1941 or early 1942 and almost certainly before the
B-29 was aquired by the RAF. Generally, each aircraft included has four
(halftone) photographs, a 5-view drawing (side, top, bottom, front, rear)
accompanied by a short description, history and specs.

The drawings are a bit too small for working from and are 'negatives' in that
each view is a silhouette with details picked out in white but could be
usefuil for clarifying details, especially re the rear view.
