Hi,

My wife got me half an hour in a Robinson R22 for my
40th birthday, and I finally got to take the flight
last weekend.

I've never really been interested in helicopters
before, but I now I am - just for the challenge!! I
found it totally different from flying a fixed wing
aircraft (I've been solo in a glider, and had a chance
to take control of Chipmunk and Cherokee light
aircraft several times).

So, I've decided to invest in a set of CH products pro
pedals. But after looking around I can't see anything
obviously designed as a helicopter collective control.
I'm wondering what other helicopter people use.

One last thing about the flight. When I've been
learning on fixed wing aircraft, they've let me take
control of the entire aircraft, i.e. stick and rudder.
The difference in the helicopter is that you have one
more control. And at any one time I was only allowed a
maximum of two - stick and rudder or rudder and
collective. Very interesting.

In case anyone is interested, the place where I went
was London Helicopter Services at RedHill Aerodrome (I
can't find a web site for them). I took a few pictures
whilst there, including one of a DH Dove, and one of a
hangar *full* of helicopters - most were ex RN
Gazelles.

TTFN!

Paul
