For us mere mortals here, how do you decide when a new
release is necessary? Is it just when you have a

I would say in an ideal world each release would be only a few months
apart. Unfortunately, my life has been extremely hectic for about a year
and a half and it just seems to get crazier, so I haven't had enough
connected moments to even think about a release.

I was put in a terrible no-win situation a year ago last January at my day
job where I was essentially double committed for two different bosses ...
and it took me at least a year to work my way through that, and there are
still a few people with lingering hard feelings and misunderstandings
towards me about how that all played out (or was supposed to play out in
their various world views.) This spring, a coworker of mine that I job
share with had to take a month and a half off for personal needs, and I had
the work of an extra person dumped on my shoulders for that time. I've been
trying to navigate a series of pretty tough (and very stressfull and time
consuming situations at my day job) and that has really hindered my ability
to do all the things that the FlightGear project needs. I know ... cry me a
river ... life is tough ... :-) But I say this just to explain why I
haven't been able to focus nearly as much attention on FlightGear as I'd
like to and as FlightGear deserves.

And when I do get a few connected moments now to think about FlightGear, I
have a huge backlog of email (well tasks that the emails remind me of.) So
even thinking about all the time required to put out a release makes me go
back to looking at my email back log. I appreciate when people are kind
enough to gently remind me about things that have been buried in my email
inbox for too long. Sometimes I can dig them out and get them done,
sometimes I can't.

Anyone out there want to fund me 1/2 time to manage the FlightGear project?
I'm ready to talk! Serioiusly! Before I lose what's left of my gray hair!

Curt.
