I would like to announce a big update to the DATCOM program. It now has the
capability to generate nice plots of the data in the JSBSIM output file,
thanks to Agostino De Marco's JIFF program, as well as output the DATCOM
model in AC3D format, which will allow the model to be fed into FlightGear.
The AC3D format is very helpful for finding errors in the DATCOM
configuration file. See my weg page for a good example of an error. The AC3D
format is no where close to being finished, but it's a nice start. It will
be updated soon (I hope).

I now have two nice installation packages, one for Windows command prompt,
the other for Cygwin. See the web page:

For those of you that are unaware of DATCOM, it is an AIr Force program that
allows an aero engineer to estimate the stability and control terms and
tables based solely on the geometry of the aircraft. It provides output in
JSBSim format, with is one of the flight dynamic models of FlightGear.

I have received email from students around the world that are using this for
their design classes. One of the leading U.S. Aerospace Engineering
univeristies is poised to use this package in the Fall 2007 term, as well as
JSBSim and FlightGear in their senior year Stability and Control, Control
Laws, and Aircraft Design classes.

And before someone complains, no, this is not a for-profit sales email. The
downloads are free.

Contact me directly for questions,

Bill
