A short write up for the day.
FGmap was one of the 6 selected to be in the finalists in their "speedgeeking" thing. So we were to showcase it during break and lunch time. Our maps were shown on a big screen, people can play with it and ask questions. Attendees (~700 people) were to judge and vote for an overall winner (which didn't turn out to be me, and not surprisingly :). A lot of people were attracted by those moving icons on the map. Many many people looked at the screen, not having read the description on the stand, asked if they are real time real life flight data. While, some others reckoned they could use something like that to track their companies' vehicles/trunks/etc. I told one of the google people how Curt once hooked his car with GPS and tracked it on FGMap ;) Also a bit surprised and excited (considering the occasion) that quite a few people actually know about FG, and one or two had tried it before. One guy asked about the actual sim itself and I had shown him quickly on my laptop and how the map showed where i am almost instantly. A few photos I took: http://pigeond.net/photos/flightgear/fgmap/google-developer-day-au-2007/ Photos of the day if you're interested: http://picasaweb.google.com/developerday/GoogleDeveloperDaySydneyAustralia or in particular: http://picasaweb.google.com/developerday/GoogleDeveloperDaySydneyAustralia/photo#5070601627531233954 P.S. Thanks for those who were continuously flying around during the show, xiii, Aerotro, syd, Jester, and many many others.
