Does the FDM do proper modeling of engine flame out?

Does the FDM do proper high altitude handling characteristics. I seem
to be under the impression that the FDM types in FlightGear don't work
so well for high altitudes or has this changed recently.

Also I would like to see improved high altitude graphics in FlightGear
because in 0.9.10 and 0.9.11 you see the square of the sky and land.
High altitude graphics is just begging to be improved with an aircraft
like the SR-71. Perhaps FlightGear can use some sort of low resolution
tile for 85,000 feet to obtain a farther draw distance to get rid of the
scenery squareness. The clouds are much to square at 85,000 feet,
perhaps again a low resolution version of clouds in order to achieve
better draw distance. At 85,000 feet the low resolution might not be
visible so won't bother people?

P.S. Thanks so much for the SR-71 Gérard.

Nate
