Ok thanks Ron looks like I will try uninstalling Mesa-6.5.3 and rebuilding
using ubuntu packages

Ok I will try rebuilding with the Ubuntu mesa packages.When I tried before 
PLIB
could not find the GL libraries but that may have been because there were
several packages that I did not have installed that it would appear I 
needed.
