I always start with a clean install.  Yes, its a pain to backup & 
reconfigure everything but I found I have fewer problems that way.

I discovered I didnt need to custom build anything from other CVS sites 
like freealut, cmake, openal etc.  The stock Fedora 8 stuff worked.

I havent built & flown FG for a while but I must say the stutter problem 
seems absent so far.  My compliments to those who tracked down & killed 
those gremlins :-)

Now for a scenery enhancement :-)
