This isn't the chat feature, but FG loading a new aircraft model as someone joins the Multiplayer (MP) environment. Switching off the chat message from the View->Rendering Options menu will have no effect. The problem is worse in 1.0.0 than 0.9.10 because there are a lot more aircraft, more people using MP, and many of the models are much more detailed and therefore take longer to load. The "Hello" message is simply the default message that is sent when someone joins the MP environment. The only way to completely get around the problem is to not use MP. This is a known issue, and there is a solution already - separate AI aircraft models which are used by the AI and MP systems to represent other aircraft. These reside in the AI/Aircraft directory, and typically are slightly less detailed models that exclude features such as cockpit instrumentation. However, currently not many have been created. If someone is looking for a simple project and a way to become familiar with the way that aircraft are created, hacking apart existing aircraft to produce lightweight AI variants of the most resource-intensive would be a very valuable service of great benefit to the FG community. -Stuart ___________________________________________________________ Support the World Aids Awareness campaign this month with Yahoo!
