Hi,

for me FlightGear performs very badly, with everything setting on
default I seldom get above 10 FPS in normal flight. Even the menu
system is sluggish. Some situations is better than others, but in
general the game is unplayable.

My computer should be more than adequate to play FlightGear (Intel E8400
CPU, 4 GB RAM, Intel GMA 3100 graphics), and indeed, if I reboot into
Windows and try FG there instead it performs just fine - even in
resolutions way larger than the default 800x600.

There's nothing wrong with 3D acceleration in Linux either, at least
Quake III Arena plays fine - even in 1600x1200 resolution with every
setting tuned to max quality I get 50-60 FPS on average. With glxgears
I get around 980 FPS.

I'm running Ubuntu 8.04, x86 flavour, with their FlightGear packages
(version 1.0.0).

Has anybody any idea what could cause FlighGear to perform so badly?

I'm attaching the output from fgfs --log-level=info in case somebody
feels like taking a look.

Regards,
