Is the FlightGear Git server (mapserver.flightgear.org) meant to be
simply a Git gateway to the "real" code on CVS, or is it more like a
developer version where work gets done before committing to CVS?

My Git-based copy of FlightGear quit compiling a couple weeks back.
Some troubleshooting found that the flightgear and fgdata projects
from Git had some added, deleted, and modified files compared to CVS.
Two particular changes in the Git version were responsible for my
problem. Going back to the CVS versions fixed it. But, Git is so much
more usable and fast than CVS that I hate to give it up.

I just want to keep up-to-date with the current FlightGear sources and
pick up all the shiny new features as they get added. In the past year
my FlightGear experience with the bleeding-edge version has gone from
great to fantastic.

So, can anyone clarify the purpose / status of the Git version and
whether its a workable approach to keeping up with the current
version?

Gary
