Donn, don't give openSUSE a bad name. All the main distributions,
Fedora, Ubuntu, openSUSE, etc., etc. are level pegging as far as content
is concerned and are quite solid.

Whatever distro you use, you are going to meet old friends such as
DRM/nouveau and of course KDE4. I have them running on 3 boxes and
NVidia on 3.

I have Fedora 14, Mint 10 and a host of others running in VirtualBox
VM's on openSUSE as well, also a box with Kubuntu and a Beagleboard
running Ubuntu. Flightgear runs on openSUSE 11.4 Milestone 3.

I'm running 11.3 on one box and 11.4 Milestone 3 on 3 boxes without
significant problems - just one Milestone 3 problem and that is with gpm
not working in VC's.

As I've mentioned before, I've never seen a list so clear of problems,
many thousands are running openSUSE happily or else you would see the
mailing list with volumes of complaints voiced very loudly and with
hostility, not just your own. The mailing list is a busy one with almost
100% devoted to what people would like to see in 11.4 Gold Master.

When you have something failing there I run it here no problem which
leads to the conclusion that your box has some sort of hardware problem,
memory/CPU/Power Supply/cables/cards or whatever.

I bet the same troubles will happen whatever distro you use.
Regards
Sid.
