Hi,

I have now put a rough how-to on the Wiki, explaining i) how to subclass
an existing FloatCanvas class and replace a DC with a GC (this isn't so
simple with many classes), ii) how to do alpha-blending and create a
'faded line'.

It can be found at:
http://morticia.cs.dal.ca/FloatCanvas/wiki/SmoothLines

I intend to follow through with Chris's suggestion about vectorising the
code to draw the AlphaLine, and I'll post some improved code as I go.

A couple of suggestions:

- The images in the how-to are currently hosted on my webspace. It would
probably be better if they were somewhere in the floatcanvas webspace -
perhaps another directory in the svn?

- Whilst I think having a world-writable wiki is a great thing, I
strongly suggest adding some password protection. Just having one
username/password that get's emailed to contributors on request should
do the trick (although even this isn't ideal). The reason I say this is
that I've seen so many wikis defaced.

Jamie
