*Nix typically means UNIX based, meaning any linux platform (CentOS-Red Hat-Fedorra etc etc).  It CANNOT operate on windows, which is the answer to your 2nd question – it does NOT run on windows.

Your best bet is to find a computer/server anda  guy who knows linux and some knowledge of routers, and head over to the tutorial and read it all, its very good and explains just about everything you need to know.

1) What does it mean by flow tools can only operate on *Nix based platforms.

2) Also how how to you install flow tools.  I dont see any setup command enabled.
