I have been using flow-export to insert flows data right into a MySQL database with indexed tables. During the morning ramp up of traffic it was killing my server and just couldn't keep up with the volume of flows I was throwing at it. I realized there was no table locking going on so I hacked up a patch to lock the table for write before doing the inserts, then unlocking when finished. We no longer have any performance issues and my server has no problems keeping up with the amount of flows we're sending it.
Here's the ugly patch with links to the FC4 RPMS that has it applied: http://voidmain.is-a-geek.net/files/patches/flow-tools-0.68-mysqllock.patch.html Thanks!
