        After I did the "export DISPLAY=my_ip_address:0.0", the demo works 
now.

                 CORRECTION, that export command should have been:

                                 export DISPLAY=:0.0
                                 ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

                 (Emphasis on the equals sign)

                 And if you use the csh/tcsh, that should be:

                                 setenv DISPLAY :0.0

                 (Emphasis on /no/ equals sign.)
