one more thing.. don't copy Qt code for "stays on top".. Those things are buggy. They can re-launch through reboots... at least the Qt3 widgets can. (I forget which version.) But if you don't really understand the entire code-- don't do it.
Also, if you've ventured down this path, the _net_wm_stays_on_top Atom/message is apparently for the 'test' in qdesigner-- only. I had to delete/rename my test executable to get it to quit popping up in triplicate! Don't. That's my opinion, anyway. There must be a way of putting a frame on a splash screen after creation (reparent, hints from a splash screen, something like that), and that's probably what we should be doing.
