Well, reading your text and the efforts you made - I don't think that
anybody will apply such a huge patch, and I really *think* that it's not
necessary.

>From your description and the said circular dependencies: to avoid these,
there's a function called register_images(). You might have missed this.

It allows to recognize jpeg, png, and maybe other images in
SharedImage::get(), the same way it is done in FLTK 1.x.

Thus, the correct way is to use register_images() in the initialization
part of your program and to link with the image libs. This should solve
your problem.
