Unless the underlying Fl_Text_Buffer guarantees that the whole UTF-8 sequence is inserted before or after the gap, but not spanning the gap, then probably not. But these changes are moot anyway, because Matt has just committed some mega-changes to the Fl_Text_* classes, which include updates to Fl_Text_Display::move_left() and move_right() to use improved member functions from Fl_Text_Buffer.
