        SGI is different; the -W flag on SGI specifies *linker* args.

        I don't think there's any standard for compiler warning flags;
        they vary all over the map.

        Back when vendors used to each have their own native
        compilers (thankfully those days are dwindling)
        I noticed how some flags were 'always there' (-o, -D, -I, ..)
        but when it came to warnings, each had their own way for those.
