The comment block for set_fonts() in Fl.H talks a lot about iso8859-1 as
default.
fl_set_fonts_x.cxx uses fl_encoding ("iso10646-1") by default.
fl_set_fonts_xft.cxx says "Also, for now I'm ignoring the "pattern_name"
and just getting everything...", which may or may not amount to just
getting iso10646-1 if I were to dig more deeply.
fl_set_fonts_mac.cxx says "#pragma unused ( xstarname )".
fl_set_fonts_win32.cxx just passes "xstarname != 0" to something, which
might do something with it.

So it sounds like we should not use the argument, and then always expect
iso10646-1 fonts back.
