You may add
#define HAVE_SCANDIR 1
to your config.h file and then run make.
This should unblock the compilation of the scandir.c file.

I would tend to believe it's your installation of the C/C++ compilers
that is slightly broken somehow, because the scandir() function
should be detected, and same for snprintf(), strlcat(), strlcpy()
and vsnprintf().
