Yes, that's what we should really do. I always thought that it was too difficult to write the (1.1) docs in html files, but a little bit of html *might* be possible to handle for me and probably others, too. But I don't know anything about LaTeX (and I get lots of error messages, when I try it with our current docs, as you described, too).
