OK - I confess I was only thinking about display of CJK, not input, too. That said, I have used fltk-1.1.6-utf8 and fltk-1.3 with the OS IME's on winXP and ubuntu to input some very limited Chinese stuff and it more or less worked (so far as I can tell.) In each case, the environment pops up a little input window for the input to go into, and it then gets passed to the app. This sort of worked OK, though the pop-up is maybe meant to be modal for the window receiving the input and I'm not sure that worked right on my ubuntu trials. Also the pop-up window seemed to have the wrong "decorations" and I couldn't figure out where it was meant to be placed - it popped up in what seemed to me to be the "wrong" place. I suspect we are not setting some window hints, or hooking some lower level X11 API or something here... And I haven't tested this since the very early stages of 1.3, so I have no idea where we stand right now - hopefully we are no worse off! So what we really need is someone who knows what is expected by the users and can help us clean this up. FWIW, input of Greek and Cyrillic was fine, when I tested, as far as I could tell. I don't really know anything about the input of Indic or Semitic languages and so did not try any of them.
