Or, if we assume that doing the COPY operation is going to be universally the "safe" option, then perhaps we should remove the conditional check altogether and *always* set the swap_type to copy on all platforms...? OK, so it may be slower, but it would be consistent between platforms and the "lowest common denominator" as it were...
