First off, FLTK is a great library. I've read only some documentation and looked at a few source files, but I'm already amazed. Simplicity and compactness is important to me, and FLTK seems to have just that.
Anyway, I sent my compiled demos to a friend for him to try out, and he pointed out something quite annoying. FLTK looks ugly on dark desktops. Especially the default scheme. The reason is that it uses a really high contrast to draw some of the box lines. This looks good on a bright desktop, since black outlines on a white background look natural, but it looks very ugly on a dark desktop, where white outlines will be disturbing. I experimented a bit and figured out how to do a quickfix by changing the functions that draw the boxes a bit. (Instead of "WWHH", I put "LLHH"). You can see the results here: http://img703.imageshack.us/f/darkl.png/ Anyway, since it's really not a very difficult problem, I thought I'd bring it up here, so dark desktop users can be amazed by FLTK, too, in the future! _______________________________________________ fltk-dev mailing list [email protected] http://lists.easysw.com/mailman/listinfo/fltk-dev
