I think when the release goes out there should be a warning about
Fl_Text_Display slowness. After all, it means that any app that uses
it for more than 50 lines or so is effectively no longer portable to
OS X (yes, it really is that slow... it wedges for about 5s to
sequentially add 50 lines, and scrolling is already too slow to use).
Of course, pre-1.3 no fltk app is portable at all to 10.6 so it's a
definite improvement as far as 10.6 goes, but a warning might save
some hypothetical new users some head scratching when their app
beach-balls on OS X.

On the other hand, since I'm developing on 10.6 now, my motivation to
help out with a fix or workaround is increasing all the time :)

I just checked for the STR and can't find it any more. And on further
experimentation, the slowness only seems to happen when wrap_mode is
turned on. test/editor is fast because it doesn't do that, if you
uncomment the line where it turns on wrap_mode, it becomes slow, even
using a fixed-width font.

Also, the wrapping is still a little wrong, though test/editor doesn't
demonstrate this, so it must be related to something else.

In addition, when using proportional fonts and dragging a selection,
the text to the right of the selection will jump around a few pixels
whenever the selection changes. It looks like the letter at the end
of the selection is getting chopped off a little. This is also
visible in test/editor if you use '//' to turn on the proportional
font.

I thought I made a STR for these things, but I don't see it anymore.
Should I add one? Or one STR for each issue?
