It seems I cannot comment on a closed bug, so it'll have to be this way.

I have tested the default font on Windows 2003, OS X 10.6, Fedora 14
and RHEL 6. The character in question is part of codepage 1252 (and
as a result very popular in HTML). It is also the character used by
every other modern toolkit I've seen.

IOW it is very likely that this glyph will exist in a font. It is not
guaranteed that every font in existence will have it though. The ones
that lack it should be very rare though, and if that's not enough then
we can always force use of "Helvetica" in secret fields (the font
shouldn't really matter in those fields since we aren't printing the
characters entered anyway).
