Gah! Something really obvious just struck me, that I should have noticed
ages ago...

It's not handling the surrogate pairs, even though they look right to
me.

So, if I have (say) 5 glyphs, all surrogate pairs, it is rendering 10
"unknown glyph" boxes rather than just 5, so it must be trying to handle
each half of the pair as a distinct glyph, which is of course useless...

Don't know why though - reading the MSDN docs for TextOutW() seem to
imply that it handles the pairs correctly.

Or I'm probably missing the point again...
