Glad I didn't miss anything, sad it's such a state of affairs.
I figure if the /MT flag causes any trouble on a particular
platform, I'll just compile specifically for that platform
and release a separate bin.

Maybe it runs under wine?
I've never used wine, but recently at the request of a customer
installed a remote desktop program called 'teamviewer' on my
linux box to view a problem they were having. It worked perfectly
(a tall order, given cross platform remote desktop tools)
but blinked the ENTIRE desktop when it started, and I wondered why.
I looked at the executable and realized it was a shell script
that ran a windows .exe under their own installation of wine,
which contains an entire C drive in a .wine directory in the
same directory as their .exe -- hilarious!

Perhaps the gov should have compiled the tool with /MT :D
