I tried it (though not recently) but I found that in practice it did not work 
very well, nor consistently across platforms, so I wasn't all that keen on it 
(I'm referring to the fltk-2 ANSI widget here, that is...)

That said, there are a heap of widgets in fltk-2 that strike me as "non-core" 
and that shouldn't be in the library; maybe in an add-ons package, but not in 
the main lib. And the ANSI widget (and indeed my terminal widget) are in that 
category!
