If 1.1.8 is getting near...
Do we want to look at the ready-made config and makeinclude file in the
"makefiles" directory?
In particular, I think the mingw ones are probably a bit out of sync
with the current build and tools (and the makeinclude.mingw is for
gcc-2.95 for example...)

If so, I can post the files that configure generates on my mingw/winXP
system - although they may be of limited use since they assume you have
mingw+Msys, and anyone who has that setup could probably just run
configure themselves...? Maybe README.win32 needs a little update too?

Also, there are a couple of .cvsignore files in the tree (one in
"fluid/pixmaps", one in "visualc") which I guess are just orphans since
we switched to svn?
