Don't know really, but seeing how Gnome and it's apps, tend to minimize configurability and make everything as simple as they can (from their point of view) in an attempt to make them more "easier" to use, I seriously doubt that there is a way to change such "little" feature without trying to change the code itself. You can however, try searching in "gconf-editor" registry for some variables that might change that. > - What's good as an alternate UTF-8 aware programming editor? These are some text editors for which I heard about from someone or tried myself. Guessing from your comments I assume that you are not seeking for some terminal or only X (emacs/vi) based text editors: GTK2: - Leafpad: http://tarot.freeshell.org/leafpad/ - Geany: http://geany.uvena.de/ - Tea: http://tea-editor.sourceforge.net/ - Katoob: http://www.arabeyes.org/project.php?proj=Katoob - Mped: http://www.triptico.com/software/mp.html Qt: - Kate: http://www.kate-editor.org/ - Cute: http://cute.sourceforge.net/ Java: - Jedit: http://www.jedit.org/ [the rest of big the list] Yet still I suggest, that you look for some IDE if not for other then to (more) automate and ease Makefile/project management. Some time ago, I've been searching extensively for some free Linux IDE that could compare with at least with Visual C++ 6 (for example with sane code assist: easily listing class and function parameters without the need to dig for them every time in docs). I gave up the search, in fact I think there is no real alternative to MS VC++ in that sense (although there are some tries, most notably "Kdevelop"), the closest I could get are Eclipse with CDT plugin, which is by itself a bit unnecessarily overcomplicated and does a little slow (global) h/cpp file parsing, and Netbeans, not perfect but can do the job, somehow. Good luck. _______________________________________________ fltk mailing list [email protected] http://lists.easysw.com/mailman/listinfo/fltk
