That's strange. I solely use openSUSE 10.3 at home and at work. I used Konqueror to do all my testing (KDE 3.5.8 release 31.1). I never thought of using Firefox since local files were only supported. I know that Firefox can use used to browse local files, but I tend to use Konqueror for that and use Firefox solely for Internet activity.
