When you configure your build of fltk, add "--enable-xft" to the
configure command line. That will then build fltk with XFT support for
you. That should be about all you need to do.

You probably ought to upgrade from 1.1.7 to one of the more recent
1.1.8-snapshots, however, as there have been a variety of enhancements
and bug-fixes that you might benefit from.
