Although be aware that the fltk-1.1.7 + XFT build doesn't handle XLFD-style names all that well, it prefers the XFT-style names (which are pretty much the same as you'd see for the font under win32 or OSX.) Fltk-1.1.8 + XFT does have code to detect and handle XLFD-style names, and mostly does the Right Thing. For my money, the "non-XLFD" style names are probably a better bet anyway, long term...
