You have to specify yoour problems - like what version you were trying to build and what errors you get during the build. Otherwise it is difficult to help. The latest stable - 1.1.8 - builds just fine with VS2005 for me, you do not need to download anything else - there are no external library dependencies, everything is included in the distributed tarbal.
