        I too agree 1.3.x is the way to go.
        I've been using 1.3 across all platforms tested with Japanese
        and it works quite well. eg:

        1.3.x is still in dev, but the small bugs are fixed quickly,
        and its base is quite solid. I definitely want to use it for
        the next release of my software.
