I agree, I think this should be removed for 1.3.x.
Apart from that, I thought that the symlinks are not in the tarbal but
created only by "make install" - in this case manual copy of resulting
libs, /FL include directory and fluid executable would do the job or
just working within the files in the source tree without the installation.

Disclaimer: I don't know OS X - can you install the software like with
"normal" *nix under /usr or /usr/local and expect paths and library
directories be set within "bin" or "lib" subdirectories or does it reuse
the subdirectories from within this "App. bundle" stuff?
