OK - now I understand what you are asking.
I guess the next question is why does it matter?
Are you counting the push/release pairs or something? And if so, why...?
You should be letting the fltk callback mechanism decide when the menu
action should occur - is there some thing about this that is not
working?

achieve...

I don't think there is any means to do that. I honestly don't think that
it should matter, either, though you may have some specific edge case...
